Our Pedagogical

Approach

Little Wizards Preschool adopts Reggio Emilia approach for our curriculum and lessons, as well as Montessori approach for the learning environment.

Reggio Emilia Approach

Reggio Emilia approach was founded by a psychiatrist, Loris Malaguzzi, alongside parents after World War II, from a city called Reggio Emilia, in Italy (The Compass School, 2017).

With the Reggio Emilia Approach, we adopt the beliefs  that children are constructors of their own knowledge and are perceived as intelligent, competent and always ready to explore (Matt Arnerich, 2018).  Therefore, here in Little Wizards Preschool, our curriculum are child-directed, with the educators carrying the role of a facilitator who provides guidance, rather than instructing their learning.

We also adopt the concept of "100 languages of children" in our curriculum. This concept acknowledges that the children has various methods of thinking, playing, exploring and doing (The Scots College, 2017).

We believe that every child has the capability to express themselves and learn in their own ways. Consequently, Little Wizards Preschool provides a variety of learning strategies and materials to accommodate to every child's learning needs.

Montessori  Approach

In Little Wizards Preschool, we adopt the Montessori Approach for our learning environment and materials.

Founded by Maria Montessori who was an Italian physician, educator, and innovator, this approach aims at each child's personality and sparks curiosity in them through a thoughtful and meticulously designed environment (Matt Arnerich, 2018).

The learning environment in our preschool promotes active participation, prepared environment and promotes freedom of choice during learning and play,
